Nation’s First R&D Center for High-Power Wireless Charging for EVs Opens Outside of Philadelphia
InductEV’s 50,000 Sq. Ft. Facility in King of Prussia, PA to Advance Induction Charging Technology for EVs, Commercial Fleets
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – August 2 -- At its inaugural “Unwired” conference held outside of Philadelphia today, InductEV (formerly Momentum Dynamics) opened the nation’s first Research & Development Center devoted exclusively to high-power, high-speed wireless charging for EVs and commercial fleets. The center is housed in a 50,000 sq. ft. facility at the company’s global headquarters in King of Prussia, PA.
More than 120 automotive, EV charging, and commercial fleet industry executives, analysts, investors, and vendors were on-hand for the all-day conference, hosted by InductEV, the global pioneer in the fast-growing wireless charging sector for commercial fleets. Conference attendees were given the first public tour of the R&D facility and a demo of the company’s high-speed, high-power wireless charging.
“As the transport sector electrifies, it’s clear that wireless charging will ultimately replace plug-ins after one considers the cost-savings, convenience, and efficiency,” observed Barry Libert, chairman and CEO, Induct EV. “Granted, it’s early days, but we’re seeing considerable excitement among public transit fleets and port vehicle (drayage) operators who’ve adopted our technology solution.”
InductEV delivers reliable, high-speed inductive EV charging at a lower cost of ownership and lower operating costs than both internal combustion/diesel and corded/plug-in charging solutions. It is in the process of bolstering its patent portfolio (50 granted and in process) while expanding its go-to-market efforts in the municipal transit and commercial goods transport sectors (aka Intra Modal facilities and Ports).
The company’s proprietary solution for commercial fleets is currently being used in 20+ locations throughout North America and Europe. It has plans to launch in Asia and is on track to achieve 10x growth in bookings in 2023.
Wireless charging technology is crucial for accelerating decarbonization, eliminating or reducing the need for EV battery recycling by extending battery life by a factor of 4-8X. Wireless also enables the broad deployment of autonomous vehicles. The company is building the first wireless charging networks, thereby setting the future standard for commercial fleet management and operations.
