IndyGo says it has a fix for Red Line buses that don't go the distance. Here's how it's worked elsewhere.

As the Red Line nears its Sept. 1 opening date, more scrutiny is being put on the success of the bus rapid transit line.

One major issue is the range of the electric buses. Last month, IndyGo shared testing data that confirmed the buses made by manufacturer BYD are falling short on the promised range of 275 miles.

In a total of 51 runs since last October, only 14 reached or exceeded 275 miles. The buses struggled in cold weather, with the lowest range reported at 152 miles when the ambient temperature was 10 degrees below zero. The tests showed more success in warmer weather conditions, with the highest range at 307 miles at an ambient temperature of 51 degrees.
